Filming 8mm and transferring 8mm film to DVD

The vintage era is in full swing, and many people are rediscovering film cameras and the joys of waiting to see the finished product. With still photography this is still relatively easy as developing is available at most drugstores and most services offer the inclusion of digital scans with the finished product, but moving image is a little more tricky to work with. Some students will have the means to develop their films themselves, but the hard part is knowing how to transfer 8mm film to DVD.

The costs of transferring 8mm film to DVD

The equipment that is needed to record the moving image accurately can cost thousands of dollars. Most people working with 8mm will not use enough of the film to justify spending that amount of money on the projector. The other option is to use an online service to transfer 8mm film to DVD, and this works out much better value as it can be as little as $8 a reel. Even by sending in multiple films a month, a person will not spend enough to make the first option worthwhile.
